Polaroid has just released a new DVD recorder with a built-in 80GB hard drive with YesDVD technology.
This Model DRM-2001G is being sold through Wal-Mart, among other retailers, and incorporates YesDVD software technology meaning you have software that simplifies editing holywood movies.
YesDVD software, which is enabled by LSI Logic's DoMiNo media processor, uses scene detection software to determine the natural chapter points and find the first clear image in the video segment to represent that chapter. Consumers can quickly create concise and entertaining home videos, including musical backgrounds.
YesDVD technology also allows consumers to insert a finished DVD into a PC to create a DVD case coversheet featuring still shots from various scenes in the program allowing you to do it yourself instead of bringing in your geek neighbour.
The unit also incorporates Principle Solution's TVGuardian foul-language blocking technology that uses closed captions to automatically cut the volume when inappropriate words are spoken in a program.
The DRM-2001G, which carries a $299.99 retail price, also offers progressive-scan video output and will store up to 102 hours of content on its 80GB hard drive. The unit will play back discs recorded in the DVD, DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW formats. It will also play music CDs and JPEG images. It includes a front IEEE-1394 interface for connection to most minDV format camcorders.
